See what I did there? I just had to make the egg photo make sense somehow. Anyway…
I am the kind of person who has different ways of looking at life and some of my philosophies (even though I don’t really like using that word,) or line of thoughts really comes from some of the things that I’ve noticed in nature, my life and some experiences.
I am somebody who likes nature a whole lot. I think it is very beautiful. I love the rain. I love harmattan as well. I just love cold in general anyway. And I feel like both the rain and harmattan bring two different kinds of atmosphere and vibe. I am just always in bliss anytime it rain. Maybe I’m talking about rain a lot because it’s raining this morning and I just feel giddy. I don’t know. But I look at nature a lot.
I also studied geography in school, so I can’t help but pay attention to nature. And one thing I noticed, which everybody knows, is there is always an exception to the rule in nature.
And that is what I was ruminating on one day and made me have this line of thought that I have right now. I was just thinking about this that, God is the creator of all things, He is Almighty. But yet, when you look at a lot of these things that are classified together, you can always find An exception to the rule. I mean, for example, mammals give birth except platypus which lays eggs. Birds lay eggs except bats that give birth. And there are so many more instances like that where something is a certain way until it isn’t.
I don’t know. I have not discovered whatever it is yet. But sometimes I wonder, why is that a thing? And what it just made me think of is the fact that maybe standing up is not a bad thing, maybe we were created to stand out.
You know, we sometimes try so much to fit in that we lose sight of our uniqueness. I know we all hear a lot of people talk about it all the time that, “oh, stand out, stand out, don’t fit in, don’t fit in.” and they are right. It might be a cliché but cliches are Cliches for a reason. (Okay now I have used the word one to many times)
Let me just say this real quick before I continue. Sometimes fitting in is right. Fitting in makes you know that you are sane. Because there are some things that you should not stand out on. If standing up means that whatever you’re doing isn’t right, it is bad, it is crazy, please feel free to fit in. Because there are always two sides to a coin.
Back to where we were, I’m not focusing on standing out as a whole, as much as I’m focusing on the fact that there is just that thing that makes you stand out. I don’t know if you get what I mean.
What I’m trying to say is there is that uniqueness to everyone that makes them different from the next person. And for me, I have come to realize, ( personally, I don’t know if that works for everyone,) but I’ve come to realize that that is exactly the thing that I need to capitalize on for everything in my life, in understanding who I am, the way that I operate, the things that I want to do, my dreams, hopes, and aspirations, it is all tied to that thing that makes me unique. That thing that makes me the odd one out. And the more that I approach life from that angle, the more I love the ‘me’ that I’m discovering.
I’ve heard a lot of people say to me when we’re having conversations that they’re trying to discover who they are or the fact that they think they’re weird. I capitalize on the fact that I think I’m weird. Everything about me is weird. I talk weird, cause I use so many words to communicate one point. My thinking is weird. But I like that. I like being the person who walks in the room and is different from everyone else. I have come to love it. As a matter of fact, it makes me happy because it means that I’m doing something right. I have had to operate in places where being the different one is all that you have to show for it.
So, in this post, I’m not just talking about you standing out and looking for ways to stand out. I’m talking about knowing that thing that makes you stand out and discovering and harnessing the power in that. Its about embracing that thing that makes you unique and using that to your advantage.
And that is all i have for today. remember to spread nothing but love and keep reaching for the stars.
